Measurement of Machine Effectiveness Using the OEE Method on Thickness Machines at PT XYZ

Abstract

Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is a useful solution for addressing issues related to low productivity caused by machine downtime. The purpose of this research is to analyze the implementation of TPM on the Thickness machine by calculating through the OEE method, which often experiences trouble and breakdowns, in order to determine the availability, performance, and quality rate of a machine to assess the productivity and effectiveness of the Thickness machine and to produce an evaluation of its previous performance. The results from the calculations obtained an average over the 5-month study period, with an availability value of 95% (ideal), performance of 90% (not ideal), and a quality rate of 97% (not ideal). The OEE value obtained was 82% (not ideal), which means that overall, or in the OEE calculation, the results have not yet reached optimal levels according to the JIPM (Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance) standards or the average standard value below the World OEE Class standard of 85%.
